The Brazilian Junior Team Wins 11 Gold Medals and Leads Easily the Medals Chart of the Pan American Judo Championship

The Brazilian athletes also won three silver awards and a bronze medal. The Cadet team’s next appointment is the World Cadet Championship.

The Brazilian Junior Team Wins 11 Gold Medals and Leads Easily the Medals Chart of the Pan American Judo Championship

Right after the great results achieved by the cadet athletes on Sunday, the Brazilian Junior team also dominated the Pan American Championship held in San Jose, capital of Costa Rica. Out of the 16 athletes who competed, eleven were gold awarded, three won silver and one took the bronze. Brazil was well ahead of its mainland rivals given the fact that the second place country, Argentina, won only two gold medals. Venezuela, the Dominican Republic and Colombia also won gold. There were 13 countries attending the event.

The Brazilian athletes who won gold were the following: Daniel Cargnin (66kg / RS), Lincoln Neves (73kg / SP), Tiago Pinho (81kg / RS), Leonardo Gonçalves (100kg / SP), João Marcos Cesarino (+ 100kg / RS), Larissa Farias ( 44kg / RJ), Jéssica Lima (52kg / SP), Kamila Silva (57kg / MG), Aine Schmidt (70kg / SP), Isabela Sanches (78kg / MG) and Camila Nogueira (+ 78kg / MS). Silver was awarded to Lucas Guimarães (55kg / RS), Henrique Francini (90kg / SP) and Ellen Furtado (+ 78kg / SP) and bronze to Alexia Castilhos (63kg / RS).

Besides her, the coaching staff was composed of Douglas Vieira, the coach of the men's team; the physiotherapists Thiago Vinicius Ferreira and Luana Carvalho; and the coaching assistant Matheus Theotônio.

The results and the medal chart can be checked in attachments. The agenda of the Junior team is a busy one. On Wednesday, one delegation boards to Europe to compete in one of the stages of the World Tour held in the Czech Republic and Germany. In late August, the selection goes to Japan for a two-week coaching internship. And the World Junior Championship will be played in October in Abu Dhabi.

The next appointment of the cadet team is the World Cadet Championship (Under 18), which takes place between August 5th and 10th in Sarajevo, capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The team will be made up of 20 athletes. The called female athletes are: Bianca Vilma Rosa (40kg/AA Judô Futuro/MS), Jéssica Silva (44kg/São João TC/SP), Gabriela Clemente (48kg/Grêmio Náutico União/RS), Franciele Terenzi (52kg/ADC Santana Pedreira/SP), Vitória Andrade (57kg/Judô Clube Rocha/MS), Ketelyn Nascimento (57kg/SE Palmeiras/SP), Samara Oliveira (63kg/PWF Lutas/ES), Pamella Palma (70kg/ADC São Caetano/SP), Bruna Silva (70kg/Grêmio Náutico União/RS) e Beatriz Souza (+70kg/EC Pinheiros/SP).

The Brazilian male representatives will be: Mike Pinheiro (50kg/São João TC/SP), João Paulo Correia (50kg/Ass. Marcos Mercadante/SP), Bruno Watanabe (55kg/São João TC/SP), Renan Torres (55kg/SESI/SP), Haniel Oliveira (60kg/São João TC/SP), Michael Marcelino (60kg/SESI/SP), Jeferson dos Santos Junior (66kg/ADPM SJC/SP), Luanh Saboya (73kg/Sociedade Morgenau/PR), Igor Morishigue (81kg/SESI/SP) e João Paulo Gonçalves (+90kg/AJ de Itajaí/SC).
