The Cadet and Junior Teams Board to Japan for Training

The cadet and junior teams boarded early on Tuesday, September 1st, to Japan in order to train with local athletes from Tokyo. This is the year’s first training in the Asian country, but the teams have participated in several trainings in Europe and South America in 2015.

The team’s main goal is getting better prepared for the World Junior Championship, held in October in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates. This is the year’s most important competition for the junior athletes.

In early August, the cadet team came back from the World Cadet Championship held in Sarajevo. They won four medals - two silver and two bronze. The awarded athletes - Igor Morishigue (silver), Michael Marcelino (silver), Jessica Silva (silver), Beatriz Souza (bronze) - will join their junior counterparts in a training internship in Japan. This is a unique opportunity for many of them, who have never been in the judo’s birthplace.

"This is my first time in Japan. Before anything, it is a dream coming true and it will certainly help me a lot in many ways, especially in the technical part of waza and newaza tachi. Then, it will make me more self-confident, "said Beatriz Souza, a heavyweight athlete from the cadet team.

The Brazilian Judo Confederation called for this training 29 athletes - 14 women and 15 men. The delegation will be staying in the judo’s homeland until September 15th , when they will come back to Brazil, landing on September 16th at Guarulhos International Airport in São Paulo.
