Rafaela Silva and Sarah Menezes Joined the Cadet Supporters Team Who Will Participate in the World Cadet Championship from Bosnia

Former champions of cadet categories, the judokas sent a message of support to the cadets who will compete in the World Cadet Championship in August.

Prodigy child, Rafaela Silva began its early shining on the mat. When she was a cadet, she won her first world title in Juniors (Under 20) in 2008. The achievement open her door to a successful path, which later would make the judoka become senior world champion in 2013 after winning a silver medal in 2011. Similarly, the Olympic champion Sarah Menezes became a junior world champion twice (2008 and 2009).

Today they are the stars of the women's team and two of the top names of world judo, and they serve as role models for the younger judokas who, like them, dream of writing history in judo. The first steps for some of them will be made at the World Cadet Championship which takes place from August 5th to August 9th in Sarajevo, capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In this competition, Brazil will be represented by 20 young Brazilian talents.

Bringing the experience of someone who had gone through this test successfully, the champions Rafaela and Sarah joined the supporters of the Brazilian youth team and left messages of support for the judokas who will write in August new chapters of this story, hoping for a happy ending just as it happened in 2008 and 2009.

"I'll be here cheering for you at the World Cadet Championship. I hope you’ll give the best of you. You are well trained and no one trained more than you. You know how you worked hard for it. Bring this medal and represent Brazil well, "said the 57 kg-athlete who will be participating also in August the World Senior Championship in Astana, Kazakhstan, together with Sarah Menezes.

"I was also world cadet champion and I'm sure that you have the potential to win medals and that you can be great champions. Believe in yourselves and be decided to win, Brazil is strong, “said the extra-lightweight who knows how it is the way up at the top of the podium.

The preparation of the youth national team starts on Wednesday, July 29th, when the whole delegation gathers in Pindamonhangaba, São Paulo, for intensive training sessions. On August 2nd, they board for the contest and come back on August 11th.
