Mr. Vizer is the newly elected President of SportAccord

The president of the International Judo Federation, Marius Vizer, was elected President of SportAccord last Saturday (2/06).

SportAccord is an organization that brings together international bodies regulating Olympic and non-Olympic sports. It is composed of 91 members and 16 associates. All of them took part in the presidential election held after the Convention from the last week in St. Petersburg, Russia.

President Vizer has been receiving a positive feedback for having considerably improved judo since his election from 2007 as IJF’s President. Therefore, the President has been praised for developing a prosperous World Judo Circuit, strengthening this sport’s position within the Olympic Games and changing some of its rules in order to make judo more attractive to the audience.

\"It is well-known that my life has been dedicated to sports in general and to judo in particular, and there will be no change in this respect. I am ready to invest all my time and energy in developing all sports,\" the newly-elected President of SportAccord stated.

\"I believe that combining judo with the activities of SportAccord means bettering both institutions,\" President Vizer added.
