The event that brings together fifteen combat sports will award highly modern medals to the best athletes

The Winners of the World Combat Games Will Receive an Innovative Medal

The medals that will award the top athletes from fifteen different sports registered in the World Combat Games have been created with technological innovations, including three-dimensional reflexes, angle impressions and a series of other novelties. The laurels have been made of material with bronze, silver and classic gold addition. The diameter of the coin is 90mm, which makes this medal the third largest award among the ones representing major world sports events, after the Winter Olympics from Turin 2006 and Vancouver 2010. Besides, the main attractions of the Medal are the figures representing all competing sports.

\"The medals are heavy and only the true representatives of martial arts will be able to put them on their neck,\" noted the Head of the World Combat Games, Pavel Zhuravlev.

The World Combat Games is an event organized by SportAccord - institution covering more than 100 affiliated Olympic and non-Olympic sports, including fifteen combat sports. The first edition was held in 2010, at Beijing. In 2013 the city hosting the event was St. Petersburg. Besides, two other sports, fencing and savate (French boxing), joined the aikido, boxing, judo , jiu - jitsu , karate , kendo , kickboxing , muay thay sambo , sumo , taekwondo , wrestling , wushu , which were already part of the program in the first edition.

The judo competition will be realized similarly to the World Team Championships and takes place on 19th and 20th of this month. On the first day, the girls compete and on Sunday it\'s men’s turn. The Brazilian team has been already convoked and flies to St. Petersburg on June 15th. Concerning the female judokas, Erika Miranda ( 52kg ) , Rafaela Silva ( 57kg ) , Ana Carla Grincevicus ( 63kg ) , Maria Portela ( 70kg ) and Mary Suelen Altheman ( +70 kg ), actually the same team that won the silver medal at the latter World Team Championship, will represent the green and yellow colors. The men\'s team will be composed of Charles Chibana (66kg), Eduardo Katsuhiro (73kg), Victor Penalber (81kg), Eduardo Bettoni (90kg) and Rafael Silva (+90kg).

Altogether, there are eight teams in each suit. The Brazilian male athletes will fight against Russians, Japanese, Georgians, South Koreans, French, Germans and Uzbekistanis. The Brazilian women will measure their forces with their counterparts from Japan, China, Cuba, Russia, Mongolia, France and South-Korea.
