The Training of the Junior National Judo Teams from Japan Comes to a Successful End

Last Sunday, the 18 members of the Brazilian Junior Judo Team came back to Brazil. They have been training in Japan for two weeks, getting prepared in two of the most renowned universities in Tokyo - Tsukuba for men and Teikyo for women.

\"I think we improved everything during our training. I understand that I started adopting a style reflecting more the judo essence, namely less physical effort and more efficient, because the Japanese athletes train much, but loose, making many handoris. I have learned many different things comparing to what I am used to in Brazil, especially the different ways to get the hits. Besides, visiting Japan and the Kodokan Institute was one of my dreams coming true. It was a very good experience, \" Vitor Torrente said.

From the point of view of the technical committee, the trip, carried out in partnership with the Ministry of Sports, was a key step in the preparation for the Junior World Championship, which will be held in Slovenia from October 24th to October 27th.

\"All of us have learned a lot in these two weeks of training in Japan. Many athletes did not know their limits and these young athletes’ overcoming in each training session was contagious. Our group came back stronger more technical and confident regarding the World Judo Championship \", said the Manager of the Junior and Cadet Teams in BJC, Kenji Saito.

The activities of the junior judo selection do not stop there. In early October, from 3rd  to 7th, the 18 athletes who have been to Japan join over 30 athletes -  and will train more in San Jose from Santa Catarina , where they participate in a few more training sessions . One of these 30 athletes who will join the group is the Olympic medalist, Felipe Kitadai . The training period is a partnership between BJC, the City Hall of São José and the Federation of Santa Catarina . The City Hall and the Federation will be responsible for accommodation and food, whereas the BJC will provide the athletes’ round transportation, from and back to their states.
