The Junior National Team Ends Its Training in the Czech Republic and Heads to the Competition in Germany

The activities in Nymburk ended on Wednesday. Next weekend, the athletes will compete in the European Cup held in Berlin, the last tournament before the World Championship.

The Junior National Team Ends Its Training in the Czech Republic and Heads to the Competition in Germany

The training camp from Nymburk, the Czech Republic came to an end this Wednesday, July 30th, after the European Cup in Prague. All 21 Brazilian judokas who participated in the competition attended the activities. The intense training period helped them prepare for the European Cup in Berlin, Germany, the last competition that will be point-worth for the national ranking and define the called team for the World Junior Championship, held in Miami, from October 20th to October 27th. The tournament in the German capital will be held on August 2nd and 3rd.

The athletes who have been training in the Czech town and who are today leaving to Germany are Luiz Claudio Lima Junior (55kg/SP), Vitor Hugo Carvalho (60kg/SP), Gabriel Pinheiro (66kg/PE), Lincoln Neves (73kg/SP ), Fernandes Ramos (73kg / MG), Caio Brigida (73kg / SP), Rafael Macedo (81kg/RS), Eduardo Santos (81kg/SP), Thiago Chiodi (90kg/SP), Gabriel Souza (100kg/SP) and João Cesarino Silva (+100 kg / RS); Larissa Farias (44kg/MS), Nathalia Mercadante (48kg / SP), Tawany Silva (48kg/SP), Jéssica Pereira (52kg/RJ), Flávia Gomes (57kg/SP), Danielle Karla Oliveira (63kg/RJ), Mariana Veiga (70kg/MS), Isadora Pereira (78kg/MG), Sibilla Faccholli (+78 kg / SP) and Camilla Nogueira (+78 kg / MS).

They are being monitored by the Performance Manager of the cadet and junior teams, Kenji Saito; the coach assistant, Marcelo Theotonio; the coaches Douglas Vieira and Andrea Berti; the psychologist Mariana Correa; the fitness trainer Armando Gonzalez and the physiotherapists Gustavo Braga and Ricardo Amadei. The sixth and final stage of the World Tour counts of the funds of the Sports Incentive Law.

In the previous edition of the tournament from last year, Brazil won seven medals. The gold was brought by Tawany SiIva (44kg) while the silver by Ricardo Santos Junior (66kg); and the bronze medals were won by Gabriela Chibana (48kg), Jéssica Pereira (52kg), Flávia Gomes (57kg), Sibilla Faccholli (+78 k) and Vitor Torrente (55kg).

According to the regulations of the National Ranking of the Cadet and Junior Teams 2014, the athletes who achieved at least 500 points will be automatically qualified for the World Judo Championship. Regarding the categories’ leaders who do not achieve the required score, the technical committee will still evaluate the possibility of their participation. Apart from the World Judo Championships, the coaching commission will also keep an eye on the athletes’ performance in order to set the team likely to train in September in a TC in Japan – this event will be further confirmed.
