The Junior Brazilian Team Goes to Japan in Order to Prepare for the World Junior Judo Championships

Next Friday (6/9 ) the Brazilian Junior Team flies to the judo’s birthplace of judo, Japan, for a series of trainings that will be led in order to participate in the World Junior Championships, which will take place between October 24th  and October  27th  in Ljubljana , capital of Slovenia.

There will be 18 athletes training in the land of the rising sun. The nine male judokas will be accommodated at the University of Tsukuba, the largest campus of the country in terms of size. The university\'s judo program was defended by names such as the twice Olympic champion Ayumi Tanimoto and the eighth Dan and author of several books on sports, Naoki Murata. On the other hand, the nine-female team will train on the campus of Teikyo University, an institution that was defended by the seven-time world champion and five-time Olympic medalist Ryoko Tani , one of the greatest judokas of all times.

\"Long before the start of the 2013 season, the BJC’s coaching commission and  different Brazilian clubs work to provide these athletes’ development in different areas of knowledge that involve our sport ( physical, technical, tactical, psychological  and nutritional preparation). Being in the judo’s birthplace is a dream and a privilege that many athletes are seeking. We are going there with a group of individual winners and a very competent technical committee. I am sure the group will take full advantage of this learning and training period. This is one more step that our athletes will make in order to reach the podium in the World Junior Championship that will be organized in October. “said the manager of the junior and cadetes Brazilian teams, Kenji Saito .

The athletes will be joined by six members of the technical committee. The Head of Delegation, Kenji Saito , the coaching adviser, Marcelo Teothonio , the coaches Douglas Vieira and Andrea Berti, and two physiotherapists , Alberto  Makino and Gustavo Braga . The athletes will go back to Brazil on September 22nd .
