The 18 athletes who will represent Brazil at the World Junior Championship starting from next Wednesday (18/10) arrived early to the venue to avoid any dangers

The Judo Junior Team Starts Acclimatization in Slovenia

Last Friday (18/10), the Brazilian junior team arrived to the stage of the Junior World Judo Championship, Ljubljana, Slovenia’s capital. Even if the competition starts next Wednesday (23/10), the technical committee decided to arrive earlier to get acclimatized to the singularities of Eastern Europe, as well as to the difficulties outside Brazil. Climate and time zone are some of the issues that the Brazilian team wanted to avoid until the day of the fighting, and therefore they were one of the first teams to land in the city.

“The time zone is our greatest issue, three days have passed and we have not got used yet. So it\'s important to arrive earlier because we believe that until the day of the competition we will be prepared for it, “said Sibilla Faccholli.

In four days since they arrived to the country, the athletes have trained together and spent a lot of time analyzing the possible opponents and the ways they can achieve the victories in a competition bringing together the best junior judo athletes from the world.

“Getting here earlier gave us the opportunity to get used to the climate and the structure of the site. We are taking time to analyze our opponents, train together and help each other, \"said Ruan Silva.

The World Junior Championship will be held from October 23rd to October 27th in the Sports Hall Stozice. The competitions will begin at 6 pm whereas the final block at 1 am, the Brazilian summer time zone - 5 pm and 12:00 p.m. in the states that have not adopted the change in 2013 .

The Brazilian delegation is composed of 18 athletes, among whom ten, after winning the Pan American title in July, will be head-key : Tawany Silva ( 44kg , SEDUC - Praia Grande / SP ) , Gabriela Chibana ( 48kg , EC Pinheiros / SP ) , Flavia Gomes ( 57kg , EC Pinheiros / SP ) , Jessica Santos ( 63kg , EC Pinheiros / SP ) , Samantha Smith ( 78kg , AD São Caetano / SP ) , Vitor Torrente ( 55kg , SE Palmeiras / SP ) , Ricardo Santos Junior ( 66kg , Minas Tenis Clube / MG ) , Henrique Silva ( 90kg , EC Pinheiros / SP ) , Gabriel Gouveia ( 100kg , EC Pinheiros / SP ) , Ruan Silva ( +100 kg , CR Flamengo / RJ ). The other eight representatives are as follows : Nathália Brígida ( 48kg , Minas Tenis Clube / MG ) , Jessica Pereira ( 52kg , Reação Institute / RJ ) , Camila Barreto ( 57kg , Kiai / RS ) , Sibilla Facholli ( +78 kg AD São Bernardo / SP ) Nicolas Santos ( 60kg,  ADPM São José / SP ) , Gabriel Pinheiro ( 66kg , Cia Judo  Association / PE ) , Gabriel Mendes ( 73kg , CR Flamengo / RJ ) and Gustavo Assis ( 81kg , Minas Tenis Clube / MG). The Technical Committee members who join the team are:  the Head of Delegation Kenji Saito, the administrative assistant Marcelo Theotônio, the coaches of the women\'s team, Andrea Berti, and the men’s, Douglas Vieira, the physiotherapist Gustavo Braga and the psychologist Mariana Corrêa.
