The International Judo Federation Conducts Some Seminars to Endorse New Rules
The IJF conducted over the weekend (18 and 19/1) the Pan-American seminar, the second of the three continental stages. The events are part of the interaction between the highest world judo organization and national judo federations concerning the implementation of the new rules. The changes go into effect in the three forthcoming years before the Olympic Games Rio 2016.
The International Judo Federation has already released the update of the rules and regulations regarding the sport at a global level; they will go into effect in the three forthcoming years before the Olympic Games Rio 2016. This means that it is the last change before the Olympics.
The official validity of the changes was endorsed and it will be effective after the three International Seminars, two of which have already been held: one in Malaga (Spain) on 10th and 11th January and the other in Miami (United States) on 17th and 18th the same month; the other one will be organized in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) on 24th and 25th when the season starts.
Regarding the Pan-American seminar, the Brazilian Judo Confederation sent a nine-member delegation composed of the following people: the international referees Laedson Lopes, Leonardo Stacciarini, Paulo Cezar Ferreira, Edison Minakawa, André Mariano, Marilaine Ferranti and Chuno Mesquita; the international referee and coordinator of the National Council of Refereeing, Jéferson Vieira, as well as the BJC’s Performance Manager, Robnelson Ferreira were part of the Brazilian team. This way, all of them had the possibility to have a discussion over the amendments.
\"From a technical point of view, the new rules show the IJF’s concern about judo as an increasingly dynamic sport which can be easily understood by the wide public. Moreover, some of them aim to the contestants’ physical integrity, as well as resume and keep the original features of the sport created by Jigoro Kano,\" analyzed Robnelson Ferreira.
After a February’s national seminar, the rules are going to be released in detail.
