The Brazilian Team Is Boarding Today for the Last Stage of the World Junior Tour
The 22 athlete-delegation leaves Brazil for competitions in Prague and Berlin as well as a Training Camp in Nymburk.
After their excellent performance in the Pan-American Championships, on July 13th, in which the Junior Brazilian Team won 17 medals (10 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze), they are leaving today for one more competition. The last stage of the World Junior Tour will be the last opportunity for them to sum additional points for the national ranking before the World Junior Championship, which will be held from October 20th to 27th in Miami / USA.
Among the 21 judokas who will wear the kimono in Prague and Berlin and participate in the Training Camp of Nymburk, there are two of them who did not compete in the Pan American Games: Caio Brigida (73kg / SP) and Nathalia Mercadante (48kg / SP). Besides them, Luiz Claudio Lima Junior (55kg/SP), Vitor Hugo Carvalho (60kg/SP), Gabriel Pinheiro (66kg/PE), Lincoln Neves (73kg/SP), Fernandes Ramos (73kg / MG), Rafael Macedo (81kg/RS), Eduardo Santos (81kg / SP), Thiago Chiodi (90kg/SP), Gabriel Souza (100kg/SP) and João Cesarino Silva (+100 kg / RS) together with Larissa Farias (44kg/MS), Tawany Silva (48kg/SP) Jessica Pereira (52kg/RJ), Flavia Gomes (57kg/SP), Danielle Oliveira (63kg/RJ), Mariana Veiga (70kg/MS), Isadora Pereira (78kg/MG), Sibilla Facchiolli (+78 kg / SP) and Camilla Nogueira (+78 kg / MS) will be part of the team.
According to the Junior and Cadet Performance Director, Kenji Saito, the event attracts several countries, which makes the disputes even harder. "These championships are the most difficult of the entire circuit. Last year traditional countries such as the North Korea and Japan came in. More countries are coming, higher is the level of the competition."
It is noteworthy that only the competition of Berlin will be point-worth for the national ranking on which the call of the athletes is based. According to the Set of Rules effective from 2014, those who achieve at least 500 points will be automatically qualified. If there are leaders who do not achieve the required score, the technical committee will decide whether they can participate in the World Junior Championships.
Besides the before-mentioned competition, the coaching commission will keep an eye on the athletes’ performance in order to possibly send a team for a TC in Japan in September - this training is to be confirmed. "This will be a decisive trip. We will have the last opportunity to examine the athletes and start deciding who are those from the list of the TC in Japan and the World Junior Championships. “Kenji Saito said.
The fights will take place in Prague on July 26th and 27th. On 28th the TC starts in Nymburk, which runs until July 31st; then, on August 2nd and 3rd, they go to Berlin for the second competition of the trip. The athletes, the coaching coordinator Kenji Saito, the coaches Douglas Vieira and Andrea Berti, the coach assistant Marcelo Theotonio, the psychologist Mariana Correa, the fitness trainer Armando Gonzalez and the physiotherapists Gustavo Braga and Ricardo Amadei compose the Brazilian delegation. They will come back on August 4th.
