The Brazilian Judo Team Scores Seventeen Gold Medals in the South-American School Games
The Brazilian judo was almost perfect in the twentieth edition of the South-American School Games, held from December 5th to 10th, in Aracaju (SE). Out of the 18 gold medals at stake, Brazil got 17, including the titles by teams for men and women. The fights have been run for three days at the Archdiocesan College of downtown. The fighting categories from December 6th were the women extra-extra-light, extra-light, light categories together with the men half-middleweight, middleweight, half-heavyweight and heavyweight ones. On 7th the men extra-light, lightweight, half-light and lightweight fought as well as the women half-middleweight, middleweight, half-heavyweight and heavyweight ones. The team fights took place on the 8th.
In team fights, Brazil overcame Peru in the semifinals and defeated Venezuela in the decision before getting the gold in men. In women, the semifinal was against Colombia and the title was fought for against Venezuela. Check out the list of the other Brazilian medalists:

XX South-American School Games: The South-American School Games are annually taken part in by students aged 12 to 14 who come from member countries of the South-American Council of Sport (CONSUDE). The goal is to promote the integration and exchange between young people from different countries. The event’s twentieth edition gathered 1800 athletes from 11 countries: Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Chile, Bolivia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Suriname, Colombia and Peru. This was the third time that Brazil hosted the South-American School Games. The city of Maringa (PR) hosted the first edition of the tournament in 1991 and Natal (RN) organized the competition in 2012.
