The Brazilian Delegation Participates in a Training Camp for the Youth Olympic Games

The coach Danusa Shira and the athletes Layana Colman and José Basile arrived this Sunday, July 20th, in Fisch, Switzerland, where they participate in a training camp in order to prepare for  Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games. The activities carried out by the International Judo Federation in partnership with the Olympic Solidarity will last until next Sunday, July 27th. They are led by Sergei Aschwanden, bronze medalist in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games in the middleweight and vice world champion in Osaka 2003 in the half middleweight. Over 350 athletes from 17 different countries participate in the TC. Sunday’s activities were attended also by Vladimir Barta, the IJF’s Sports Director.

This is the second event organized by IJF due to the Games. A few weeks ago, hundreds of young people participated in judo presentations across the city as part of the Educational Day of Judo. The event ended exactly where the judo fights will be held.

A few weeks ago, on the occasion of the Judo Journey Educational Through China,  IJF and the Chinese Judo Association celebrated as well the preparation of the second edition of the Youth Olympic Games. Hundreds of young judokas participated in several judo animations throughout the city. The Judo tour ended in the place where the judo tournament will be held during the YOG.

Judo is one of 28 different sports from the program of the Youth Olympic Games. The competitions will take place from August 17th to 21st at the Najing Longjiang Gym. There will be 104 athletes (52 from each gender) to fight in only four men’s categories and four women’s ones.  On the last day, there will be a mixed teams contest.
