The Brazilian Cadet Team Wins Sixteen Medals in German Competitions
The men’s team took part in the competition from Bremen whereas the women’s went to Bad Blankenburg.
While the Brazilian Senior Team won the first place in the Pan American Open from Buenos Aires, their cadet counterparts showed their strength in Germany, one of the most traditional countries regarding this sport. Competing in Bremen, the men’ s team led the medal chart after winning five gold, three silver and two bronze medals. The women got one gold, two silver and three bronze awards and therefore they reached the third place in the tournament run in Bad Blankenburg.
The International Masters Bremen brought together 399 athletes from 17 countries such as Germany, Brazil, the Netherlands, Russia, France and Canada, among others. Brazilians had an above average performance, winning 10 medals. Mike Pinheiro (50kg / SP), Bruno Watanabe (55kg / SP), Haniel Oliveira (60kg / SP), Jeferson Luiz Junior (66kg / SP) and Luanh Saboya (73kg / PR) went to the highest place of the podium. The silver was won by João Paulo Correia (50kg / SP), Renan Torres (55kg / SP) and João Paulo Gonçalves (+ 90kg / SC) whereas the bronze by Michael Marcelino (60kg / SP) and Igor Morishigue (81kg / SP). Germany was second placed whereas the Netherlands the third.
"I became the champion in the International Master Bremen! But the best was that I fought in the final against a great warrior and companion, Renan Torres. This title was won thanks to all technical commission of the Brazilian team, my sensei, my family and colleagues, "said Bruno Watanabe.
The three countries also dominated the International Cup of Thuringia, held in the city of Bad Blankenburg. With the gold won by Bianca Rosa (40kg / MS), the silver awarded to Jessica Silva (44kg / SP) and Gabriela Clemente (48kg / SP) and the bronze won by Ketelyn Nascimento (57kg / SP), Pamella Palma (70kg / SP) and Beatriz Oliveira (+ 70kg / SP). With two golds, Germany and the Netherlands took the first and second places in the medals chart, respectively. The event also included athletes from France, Belgium, Denmark, Czech Republic and Switzerland.
Now they are participating in the competition training camp and will come back to Brazil on March 26th.
