Rio Will Have at Least Three Public Exhibition Venues of the Games
Mayor Eduardo Paes said that the so-called "Live Sites" must be set in the port region, Madureira Park and Miécimo da Silva sports center
Rio de Janeiro will have at least three three public exhibition venues of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2016, according to the mayor, Eduardo Paes. The main "Live Site" as it is called the Fan Fest of the Olympics, will be set in the center of Rio city.
"What we have in the port area is what we will call ' Olympic' boulevard, just where was the perimeter, there will be the Fan Fest of the Olympics. It goes from Praça XV until near the Warehouse 7. We will enable the locals, other Brazilians and tourists enjoy the Olympics without paying for a ticket "he said. “We want to turn it into a big stadium, with at least three stages, several shows, with a great space," he added.
According to Paes, in addition to the Live Site center, two others are planned: one in Madureira Park, in the north, and another one at Miécimo da Silva sports center, in the western zone.
The mayor said the Riotur (municipal tourism company) will make a public call for companies to submit proposals to finance the views of the Games.
Paes attended, on Tuesday (24.02), the second day of meetings of the Coordinating Committee of the Rio 2016 Games, which continue until Wednesday.
