Judo is on street. And we're not talking about the athletes’ good performance from the Pan American Games nor about the World Cadet Championship nor about the boarding towards the World Championships. This sport that has given the greatest quantity of Olympic medals to Brazil is on the new series of coins issued by Central Bank and stamps issued by the Post Office. They were launched on Thursday at Maracanã commemorating the one year countdown before the 2016 Olympic Games .

In the case of coins, the third set of R $ 1which goes into circulation has three Olympic sports (judo, volleyball and soccer) and one Paralympic one (athletics). In addition to the coins which are already circulating, there will be four new silver coins and a gold one added to the collection. The silver versions combine outdoor sports practiced in typical landscapes of Rio (obverse) - with the paddle at Lagoa; the race in Flamengo Park; the cycling in the Chinese Pavilion and the beach volleyball on Copacabana - with fauna, flora, architecture and Brazilian  music icons (reverse) - with the golden long tailed monkey; the orchid; the Sambadrome; and the forró. The gold coin pays tribute to Christ the Redeemer and the Olympic fight. The coins cost between R $ 13 and R $ 1,180.

In all, there will be more than 320 million coins produced in 36 models - four gold, 16 silver and 16 circulating ones. The fourth and the last set of coins is scheduled in February 2016. The first was launched in March 2014.

"The common circulating coins were chosen to show the sports in which Brazil won most medals," said João Sidney Figueiredo, head of the department of circulation of Casa da Moeda.

The second set of stamps launched by the Post Office at the event portrays nine Olympic sports - boxing, canoeing, fencing, football, golf, handball, taekwondo, table tennis and triathlon - and Paralympics - judo. The complete collection includes 31 stamps - a number that refers to the 31st edition of the Games. The first set was launched 500 days before the Games, and the next one is scheduled in November this year.

Each stamp will be sold at R $ 1.30 and the full set- with 10 duplicate stamps- costs $ 26. The pieces can be purchased from post offices, from the virtual store and the distance central selling. The draft of this second set of the Post Office would be 2.4 million units. The drawings were made by the illustrator José Carlos Braga.

"From the first set there have been 1.3 million Olympic Games seals sold," said the president of the Post Office, Wagner Pinheiro.
