Bradesco Will Give the Chance to Brazilians Who Make the Difference to Drive the Rio 2016 Olympic Torch

Bradesco announced on Monday, August 3rd, the campaign of the appointment of those who will drive the Rio 2016 torch at an event held at ADC Bradesco Sports and Education in Osasco, São Paulo. The event was attended by some athletes who were awarded at the Pan American Games in Toronto, such as the judokas Charles Chibana (66kg) and Maria Suelen Altheman (+78kg). And the main sponsor of the national judo team wishes that the Brazilians who make a difference in their communities participate in the relay. Therefore, it is necessary that the driver - above 12 - be nominated by someone who will tell, upon registration, a good story in which the nominee underwent a transformation. In other words, a self-nomination will not be possible. The nomination will only be done on www.bradesco.com.br/tocha.

"We will offer an opportunity to all Brazilians to be appointed to drive the Rio 2016 Olympic Torch. After all, this is an event for people. It is time to show stories of friendship, respect and excellence that inspires us all, "said Jorge Nasser, Bradesco's  marketing director.

The choice of drivers will take into account the nominee’s life history; his/her relation of transformation and / or interaction with the society in which he/she lives; and its integration with the Olympic values of friendship, respect and excellence. This way, you can refer a friend, an acquaintance of your city, an athlete, in other words, someone who makes a difference with his/her life story.

The online nomination should be joined by a text on the driver candidate and even a video or photo can be uploaded.  The deadline for nomination is October 14th. The stories will be judged by a committee formed by Bradesco and the Rio 2016 Organizing Committee (OC). The chosen drivers will be announced by CO 2016 until February.

The Rio 2016 Torch Relay will go through all states and over 300 cities, for about 100 days until the arrival in Rio, on August 5th, 2016, for the lighting of the Olympic Flame at Maracana. Until now, it was decided upon 83 cities where the torch will pass. The remaining cities will be announced in the coming months by the Rio 2016 Committee. There are special feelings in the week that marks the countdown of one year before the Olympics.

"The torch is very beautiful. You end up feeling that you’re closer to the Olympics, "said Charles Chibana, gold awarded at the Pan American Games.
