Henrique Silva Is Awarded at the World Junior Championship

The half middle-weight and middle-weight categories went to the mats of the Sports Hall Stozice from Ljubljana this Friday (25/10 ) in order to compete in the World Junior Competition. Brazil’s representative in the up-to-90kg category, Henry Silva (EC Pinheiros/SP), won his first three fights by ippon, each of them lasting less than two minutes. The Kazakh Samat Yessen was his opponent from the semifinals, and after three minutes of an exciting fight, with a yuko on each side and one wazari for the Kazakh judoka, the fight ended with an ippon applied by Yessen on the Brazilian athlete. In the fight for bronze, the Tajik Komronshoh Ustopiriyon was penalized twice whereas Henrique just once and so, the Brazilian took the bronze. It is the fourth Brazilian medal  in this competion.

The other two Brazilians of the day did not reach the fight for medals. Jessica Santos (63kg , EC Pinheiros / SP ) won his first fight - against the Austrian Magdalena Krssakova - by ippon, but she ended up being defeated in the next confrontation - by the Greek Elisavet Teltsidou - by yuko. Gustavo Assis ( 81kg , Minas Tenis Clube / MG ) could not resist the Korean Jooyong Lim, who won the fight by wazari .

On Saturday (26/10 ), the last day of the individual competition, the 78kg , +78 kg , 100kg and +100 kg categories reach the mats. Samantha Soares (78kg) is the number one key and starts her campaign against the winner of the dispute between the German Maike Ziech and the Dutch Babette van Aggelen. Among the heavy athletes (+100 kg), Sibilla Faccholli fights first against the Ukrainian Anastasiia Sapsai. Gabriel Gouveia (100kg) starts his first fight against the Greek David Karaklidis. Finally, Ruan Silva ( +100 kg ) faces the Lithuanian Augustinas Seniauskas.
