Brazilians Fight in the World Junior Championship This Wednesday

There is very little time before the beginning of Miami 2014 World Junior Championship. On  Tuesday afternoon, more precisely at 4 pm GMT, it starts the draw-in of the most important junior tournament. The Brazilian team arrived in America on Sunday (19th), after a three week- training, together with the senior men's national team as well as with some Japanese athletes.

On Wednesday, the World Junior Championship begins with the fights of the extra-light and light categories. Brazil will be represented by Luiz Cláudio Lima Junior (55kg / SP), Vitor Carvalho (60kg / SP), Larissa Farias (44kg / MS) and Tawany Silva (48kg / SP). The following (22nd), it is the turn of the half-lightweight and lightweight categories and the Brazilians who represent the country are: Ricardo Santos Junior (66kg / MG), Gabriel Pinheiro (66kg / PE), Lincoln Neves (73kg / SP), Jessica Pereira (52kg / RJ) , Tamires Crude Silva (57kg / RJ) and Flávia Gomes (57kg / SP).

On Friday, 23rd, Rafael Macedo (81kg / RS), Eduardo Santos (81kg / SP), Thiago Chiodi (90kg / SP), Danielle Karla Oliveira (63kg / RJ) and Mariana Veiga (70kg / MS) will be Brazilian representatives in the half middleweight and middleweight categories. Closing the individual disputes, Gabriel Souza (100kg / SP), João Cesarino (100kg + / RS), Sibilla Faccholli (78kg + / SP) and Camila Gebara (+ 78kg / MS) fight on Saturday, 24th. On Sunday 26th there will be the teams competition.

The athletes who are in the United States are under the supervision of the technical manager Marcelo Theotônio, as well as the coaches Douglas Vieira and Andrea Berti, besides the technical adviser Edmilson Guimarães and the physiotherapist Gustavo Braga. During the training, the coaching staff has also among its members the physiotherapist Ricardo Amadei, the fitness coach Armando Gonzalez, the psychologist Mariana Correa and the nutritionist Patricia Vieira.

The qualifiers will be held from noon and the final block from 7pm, all GMT. The World Junior Championship will be run at the Broward Convention Center in Miami. 563 athletes have previously enrolled - 331 men and 232 women - 80 different nations. Japan, Russia and the United States are the only countries that have the maximum number of athletes allowed: 20. Brazil, France and the Netherlands are close behind with 19 judokas in their teams. On the other hand, 11 countries will be represented by only one athlete: Aruba, Cameroon, Djibouti, El Salvador, United Arab Emirates, Estonia, Panama, Pakistan, Paraguay, Switzerland and Togo.
