Brazil Wins 8 Gold Medals and It Becomes the Overall Champion in the South American Under-15 Championship
The women’s team was the champion in all the categories of the competition
After the success achieved in Under-13 due to the 11 gold and 3 silver medals, Brazil had one more good performance in Under-15 and took the first overall place in the Championship South American held in Peru last weekend. There were eight gold and four silver medals won by the new generation of the Brazilian judo. The fights took place on Saturday in Lima, the Peruvian capital.
Regarding the men categories, despite the Brazilian hegemony in the general framework, the competition was fierce. The green and yellow team took won three gold and four silver medals. João Claudio de Souza Chimurro Junior (44kg), Lucca Solomon Gonçalves Portella (48kg) and William Kenji Sacamoto Guimarães (64kg) were the champions in their respective weight categories, while Rodrigo Arthur Liebold (40kg), Guilherme Caesar Schmidt (53kg), João Victor Pazianotti Rodrigues (58kg) and Christian Alan Mendes (+ 64kg) were second placed.
As for the women, it can be said they were fantastic. All Brazilian judokas were the first in their fights. Gabrielle Santos (44kg), Maria Fernanda Cirico dos Santos (48kg), Camila Vitoria Xavier (53kg), Roberta Azambuja Paiva (58kg) and Ramoni Valadares Toledo (64kg) brought home the gold.
The overall Under-15 podium was reached by Brazil, Argentina and Peru in the first, second and third places.
