Brazil Is Awarded 26 Medals at the Pan-American Under 15 and Under 13 Championships

The Pan-American Under 15 and Under 13 Championships were held on November 15th and 16th in San Salvador, capital of El Salvador. And the brand new Brazilian judo generation scored 26 medals.

In the Under 15, the country kept its continental hegemony by winning 14 podiums. The judokas were awarded ten gold, one silver and three bronze medals, besides a fifth position. Thus, Brazil was the overall champion. The distance to the second-placed country, Ecuador, was huge since our South American neighbor won just two gold medals.

In the Under 13, our young athletes scored 12 more medals, including six golds, two silvers and four bronzes. In the overall scoring, Brazil stays behind the United States because of the number of second places: the Americans had five of them whereas Brazil only two.

All judokas who became Brazilian champions in their categories during competitions held in João Pessoa (PB) - Under 13 - and Porto Velho (RO) - Under 15 could take part in this contest organized at Decameron Salinitas Rotal Hotel.

Apart from the 29 young contestants, the green-yellow delegation was led by the Head of Delegation Edmilson Guimarães , the coaches Danusa Shira and Douglas Potrich, the physiotherapist Cliff Ferreira, the referees Marilaine Ferrante and Paulo César Ferreira, besides the administrative assistant, Ingrid Camara.
