After the Largest Junior Training Camp of All Times, the Athletes Board for Austria
The activity with the athletes from Japan, France, Italy, Puerto Rico and the United States ended last Sunday. This Wednesday they travel to Europe.
Last Sunday, May 25th ,the largest Junior training camp of all times, held in Campo Grande, the capital of Mato Grosso do Sul, by the Brazilian Judo Confederation, in partnership with the Ministry of Sports through the Law of Incentives, came to an end. In the last days of training, the activities were attended by about 80 athletes, among whom there were important Brazilian athletes as well as representatives of Japan, France, Italy, Puerto Rico and the United States, and members of the technical committee and foreign coaches. Additionally, more than a hundred people turned to their destinations over the weekend. And the team boarding this Wednesday, May 28th, to Leibnitz, where they will be competing next weekend and training until June 4th, have been intensely preparing over the last week.
In the first stage, held on May 19th, 20th and 21st, more than two hundred athletes were participating in two daily training sessions. During this period, all the athletes who participated in the Junior Brazilian Championship, held on May 17th and 18th, had the opportunity to take part in an exchange not only with the best Brazilian athletes of the category but also with the foreigners. The coaches representing the 26 Federations were informed about the work of the several coaching areas, such as physical conditioning, nutrition, psychology and health, through lectures. There was also a meeting between the coaches of the cadet and junior teams at the dojo set in Eco Hotel do Lago. They showed what are the practical problems faced by Brazilian athletes in international competitions and what are the alternatives that could be used during trainings in order to minimize them.
In the second part of the training, held on May 22nd, 23rd and 24th, the fitness and the technical as well as the tactical parts were emphasized. The activities, in two daily two-hour periods, focused on various aspects of ne-waza techniques and they were very praised by the foreign coaches who were watching the training. On last Friday, May 30th, there was a friendly competition between the four groups that were composed of athletes from all invited countries. The action created a climate of cooperation and teamwork among athletes. There was indeed a large cooperation.
More than 20 professionals were directly involved in these activities. The members of the technical committee attending the event were Kenji Saito, the manager of the cadet and junior teams; Douglas Vieira, the coach of the junior men’s team; Andrea Berti, the coach of the junior women’s team; Douglas Potrich, the coach of the cadet men’s team; Danusa Shira, the coach of the cadet women’s team; the assistant coaches Marcelo Theotônio and Edmilson Guimarães; Armando Gonzalez, the trainer; Mariana Corrêa, the psychologist; Patricia Vieira, the nutritionist; and the physiotherapists Gabriela Zannotti, Cliff Ferreira, Regina Cuattrin and Thiago Ferreira; the doctors Rodrigo Rodarte and Guilherme Garofo; the office assistant Pedro Dassoler; the coordinator of logistics and production, Thiago Pereira; apart from the press office. The committee also included the physiotherapists Gabriel Bogalho and Gláuber Andrade and the trainees Maurício Comim and Tamara Balsani.

Next weekend, between May 31st and June 1st, the Brazilian Cadet Championship will be held in São Luis, capital of Maranhão.
