The First Stage of the Junior Training Camp Comes to an End
The athletes who participated in the Brazilian Championship came back this Wednesday to their home states
This Wednesday, May 21st, the athletes who participated in the Junior Brazilian Championship left Campo Grande. They took part as well in the biggest training camp ever organized in the country. Coaches included, there are about 180 people who leave the Eco Hotel from Lagoa. This was an opportunity that the Brazilian Judo Confederation, together with the Sports Ministry of Sports, using the Law Incentive to Sports, provided to the athletes and coaches from 26 states so that they be able to better know how judo is being practiced in traditional countries such as Japan and France.
"I'm sure that the athletes, especially those who do not use to compete for the National Team, and therefore do not have the opportunity to be competing and training abroad, are very happy to have participated in this training. You don’t always have the opportunity to grab the judogui of an athlete from France or Japan, "said Danusa Shira, the coach of the Cadet Women’s Team.
One of those who had the opportunity to grab a foreigner’s kimono was Igor Lima, extra-lightweight category, 17 years, from Alagoas. He trained with an Italian and said the experience made him grow as a judoka.
"I think I improved my technical skills, I felt the difference. I fought with an Italian and it was a tough fight. The more he was projecting me, the more I wanted to raise and fight again, "Igor said.
The training goes on until next Sunday, May 25th and over 100 people among whom the athletes who will represent Brazil in the tournament in Leibnitz, Austria, and the top-ranked judokas and those from Japan, France, Italy, Puerto Rico and United States, foreign coaches and the Brazilian technical committee.
