Vitória Hosts the International Judo Challenge Between Brazil and Cuba
The event takes place on July 20th and the team will be composed of five athletes - Raquel Silva (52kg), Manoella Costa (57kg), Erika Ferreira (63kg), Nadia Merli (70kg) and Claudirene Cezar (+78 kg).
After the success of the Mixed Challenge between Brazil and Argentina held last month, May 26th, in Belo Horizonte, at the Tancredo Neves Gym, Tancredão from Victoria will host on July 20th the International Judo Women’s Challenge between Brazil and Cuba.
The contest will also represent the resuming of the coach Yuko Fujii on the mats - Yuko was on maternity leave and came back to train the team a month ago. She will lead the team composed of Raquel Silva (52kg), Manoella Costa (57kg), Erika Ferreira (63kg), Nadia Merli (70kg) and Claudirene Cezar (+78 kg). The physiotherapist Gabriel Bogalho will join the athletes The Cuban team will be formed of Gretter Díaz (52kg), Anayli Hernandez (57kg), Mailin Caevajal (63kg), Olga Ramirez (70kg) and Gusmari Savigne (+78 kg), and they will be led by the coach Ismael Dupotey.
The same category judokas will face each other on the mat and the winner scores for their country. Even if one of the teams score 3-0, confirming the victory, the other two fights will still be held.
According to Amadeu Júnior, the coaching supervisor at the Brazilian Judo Confederation (BJC), the competition provides an opportunity for the Brazilian athletes to come in contact with the other schools’ judo, acquring more experience. The event starts two hours before the start of the fighting, which is scheduled at 2 pm. The audience from Tancredão have the opportunity to attend a big party with DJ, lots of entertainment and giveaways. The fights will be live streamed on SporTV.
