The Brazilian and the Italian Delegations Visit PJC on the Eve of the Contest
The athletes visited all the building that would host its first test event on Sunday
On Saturday afternoon, November 29th, Brazil’s and Italy’s athletes and technical committees visited the premises of the Pan American Judo Center located in Lauro de Freitas, Bahia. On Sunday 30th, the judokas will meet again on PJC’s mat in order to compete in the International Contest.
The visit began with the bedrooms, where the athletes will be staying during the training seasons and competitions. They could see from close their bedrooms and changing rooms they will use in the future. Excited and curious, judokas had fun taking a lot of pictures to every shown novelty. One of the most outgoing members of the group, Rochelle Nunes "opened" the auditorium stage taking photos of herself.
The visit continued with the barbecue area and pool, through the support rooms and the presidency ones and then the visitors went to the "grand finale" in the gym space where the athletes would perform on Sunday.
The facilities at the new center impressed even the coach of the Italian judo team, Laura Di Toma. "We are honored to be part of this as well as to visit this beautiful training center. Everything is very nice," she said before referring to the next Olympic Games. "I hope to be back here in 2016 to prepare for the Olympics."
The Brazilian delegation is composed of the athletes Eduardo Bettoni (90kg), Marcelo Contini (73kg), Mariana Silva (63kg), Rochelle Nunes (+ 70kg), Camila Gebara (+ 70kg) and Mayara Oliveira (52kg). Eleudis Valentim got injured and she would not be able to fight on Sunday. Mayara, who was third placed in the Brazilian Junior Championship, will be Bahia’s representative in this dispute. The Contest will be live broadcast on SporTV from 01:00 pm (Brasilia time).
