Find More about the Titans Who Will Defend Brazil in the International Contest
The national team will face its Italian counterpart in a test event held at the Pan American Judo Center from Bahia
Contest against Italy. The contest will be held at the Pan American Judo Center located in Lauro de Freitas, Bahia, judo’s new home in the Americas. For this contest, there were summoned young athletes of the new generation of judokas to defend Brazil against the Italians.
To know them better, follow below a brief profile of each of our judokas who will take part in this dispute.
Eleudis Valentim (52kg)
The 22 year-old athlete from São Paulo was world junior vice-champion in 2010 in Agadir and since then, she has been doing greatin international competitions. She became the champion of the Grand Slam in Rio in 2012 as well as of the Military World Games in 2013 and she was awarded bronze in the Grand Prix of Astana and Tashkent in 2014.
Mariana Silva (63kg)
The athlete from Minas became world vice-champion in Rio de Janeiro in 2013, in the teams competition. In 2014 she represented Brazil in the Grand Slam of Paris and the Grand Prix of Tashkent and Astana. Last weekend, the judoka helped Minas to win the third title of the National Interclub Women Grand Prix, held in São José dos Campos.
Rochelle Nunes (+ 70kg)
The heavyweight champion won Troféu Brasil in 2010 and she became twice bronze medalist in Rio Grand Slam (2011 and 2012). This year, she got the third place in Grand Prix of Zagreb. On behalf of Sogipa, she won the bronze in National Interclub Women Grand Prix.
Camila Nogueira (+ 70kg)
The athlete who defended OAS Inhumas National Interclub Women Grand Prix held this year is one of the revelations of the Brazilian judo. In 2014, she won two gold medals in international competitions: European Junior Cup in Leibnitz and the Pan American Junior Cup, in San Salvador.
Marcelo Contini (73kg)
Contini became the Champion in Grand Slam of Rio in 2012, he took the bronze in Baku in 2013 and the silver in the Grand Slam of Tyumen, in 2014.This year he also helped Pinheiros to win the seventh title of the National Interclub Men Grand Prix.
Eduardo Bettoni (90kg)
The athlete from Minas is famous for being the charm of the team. At 22 he was spare for the Olympic medalist Thiago Camilo in the World Team Championship held in Salvador in 2012, and with a spectacular turn, he made Brazil win the bronze in that competition. He has participated in the International Contest Brazil vs Japan in September this year, and once again he became the champion with the team.
