Brazil and Colombia Set Teams for the BRA Judo Super Challenge
Teams will be competing in São José-SC next Monday, June 22nd. The event will be live broadcast by SporTV starting from 18h00.
After defeating Ecuador by 3-2 in this year’s first Super BRA Challenge held in Duque de Caxias, on June 1st, the Brazilian National Judo Team will be back on the mat for this year’s second competition of mixed teams. This time, the opponent will be the Colombian Team and the host is the city of San José from Santa Catarina, on Monday, June 22nd, starting from 18h00.
For this competition, which is the last one before the Pan American Games in Toronto in 2015, Brazil will come with a team composed of both youth and experienced athletes such as Eric Takabatake (60kg), Tamires Crude (57kg), Alex Pombo (73kg), Maria Portela (70kg ) and Eduardo Bettoni (90kg) under the command of the coach Mario Tsutsui. On the other hand, the trainer Baudilio Hernandez will try to overcome the Brazilian judokas by bringing his pupils such as John Jairo Futtinico (60kg), Yadinis Amaris (57kg), Christopher Franco (73kg), Luisa Bonilla (70kg) and Pedro Castro (90kg).
"I think it will be a good competition, not only in my category as in the other. Colombia brought good fighters. I know how Futtinico fights, because I fought against him and we also trained together. It is a fast and dangerous opponent. I believe it will be a good fight ", said Eric Takabatake, who has achieved good results in 2015, as silver at the Pan American Championships Edmonton-CAN and a bronze in the Open Warsaw-POL.
For the pair composed of Maria Portela and Alex Pombo the competition will have a special taste. Both of them had good achievements last weekend, when they took the gold in Brazil Trophy in Taubaté, and they will take advantage of the Super Challenge BRA as an ultimate test for the Pan American Games in Toronto in 2015.
Eduardo Bettoni and Tamires Crude, although not summoned for Toronto, try to keep their good performance and repeat in San Jose the outcome from Brazil Trophy when they won the gold medal.
The fight will start at 18h00 (Brasília Time Zone) and will take place at the Multiuso Arena Center of São José, live broadcast by SporTV. The entrance is free.
