The Great Name of the Brazilian Kata, Rioti Uchida, Runs a Seminar in Brasilia
The Metropolitan Judo Federation of Brasilia (FEMEJU) held this weekend, on July 19th and 20th, a Kata seminar, who approached the Nage-no-Kata (projection techniques), the Katame-no-kata (ground techniques) and Ju-no-Kata (attack and defense techniques). The meeting was run by one of the biggest names in Brazilian Kata, Professor Rioti Uchida, 6th Dan, a member of the Kata Commission of the International Judo Federation and holder of three world titles (Canada 2005, France 2006 and Brazil 2007) four Pan-American awards (Puerto Rico 2005/Argentina 2006/Argentina 2008 / El Salvador 2010) and five Brazilian ones (Praia Grande 2005/Bauru 2006/São Paul 2008 / 2009/São Sao Paulo Bernardo do Campo 2010).
Kata is a set of fundamental techniques that were created by Jigoro Kano and have been enhancing the spirit of jud for more than 130 years. This was the first Kata seminar held in Brasilia. Besides Rioti Uchida, his son, Wagner Uchida, collaborated sharing the lessons he learned throughout his life, and especially with his father.
One participant, André Mariano, 6th Dan, and IJF A referee, thanked for the experience. "Thank you all for the wonderful teachings of this Seminar!" Shared on his Facebook page and took the opportunity to make quote Master Jigoro Kano. "When you sadly see that don’t you know anything, you have taken the first step to learning."
