Layana Colman Is Back After a Two Month-Recovery from an Injury

One of the new names of the Brazilian judo, the athlete from Mato Grosso do Sul, Layana Colman, came back training in Campo Grande after a two month-stop because of a knee injury she sustained in October during a workout. On Tuesday, December 16th,  the judoka will be awarded by the Olympic Committee of Brazil due to her two medals - gold in individual and silver in team competitions of the Youth Olympic Games held in August in China. Moreover, she was allowed to go back step by step to her everyday training.

"I’ve been recovering very well. Now I have to come back, practice again the movements, breath, everything," she said in an interview given to TV Morena, a Mato Grosso do Sul TV station.

The athlete sustained a torn medial collateral ligament and, after being evaluated by the medical committee of the Brazilian team, was sent to physical therapy and no surgery was needed. Her return to mats is scheduled on January 15th.
