Since the first time they were designed - 1964 – in the Tokyo Olympics, the Olympic pictograms have become a tradition for the organization of the Games. The figures serve to disseminate sports, taking into account the host country\'s culture. This Thursday (7/11), the Organizing Committee of Olympics Rio 2016 launched their official pictograms for the next Games.
For the first time, the Paralympic Games have been presented through their own graphical icon, which makes Rio 2016 the Olympic edition with the highest number of pictograms until now. There are 41 Olympic sports and 23 Paralympic ones .
“This is one of our strengths in the Games’ history,\" said the President of Rio 2016, Carlos Arthur Nuzman.

\" The use of pictograms from now until 2016 will serve as a communication platform for the promotion of sports and attraction for partners; besides, it will define all the visual identity of the Games, including the decoration of the venues, signs, tickets, licensed products, among others, \" said the Brand Director of the Committee , Beth Lula.
The work was performed in 16 months, five of them having been submitted to the validation of the International Federations representing each sport, counting a total of 42 institutions.
