BOC Organizes Some Workshops in Order to Discuss on the Preparation of Time Brasil
The team includes former athletes, managers and coaches of various sports federations. The group will meet seven times before the 2016 Games.
In order to share experiences, the Olympic Committee of Brazil gathered a working group of coaches, managers, athletes and former athletes who are directly connected with the preparation of Time Brasil for the Games Rio 2016. There already have been organized two meetings of the group, one in November 2014 and another on January 29th, at the BOC’s headquarters from Rio de Janeiro.
On this occasion, the approached topics were the influence of sleep on athletes’ preparation, doping control, mental preparation and some guidelines to provide competitors the calm needed to compete in the best possible way in 2016.
"The behavioral preparation of the athletes and of the coaches themselves is as important as the technical preparation, tactics and physical of each of team. We need to increase the advantages of competing at home and reduce the disadvantages that this fact entails, "explained Marcus Vinicius Freire, CEO of Sports of BOC.
Representative of the Brazilian Judo Confederation at the meeting, Ney Wilson who is also the Performance Director of the institution, endorsed the initiative. "I have been watching for a long the Olympic teams. I have worked in all positions of the delegation in the Olympic Games, so this meeting is very different. I have never attended a meeting as productive as this one and this will allow me to improve together with my athletes, "he stated.
Besides Ney Wilson, the coaching group consists of Bernardinho (volleyball), Ruben Magnano (basketball), Jesus Morlan (canoeing), Morten Soubak (handball), Marcos Goto (gymnastics) and Alexandre França (modern pentathlon), apart from the coaching coordinators Ricardo D'Angelo and Carlos Alberto Cavalheiro (athletics), Georgette Vidor and Leonardo Finco (artistic gymnastics), Ricardo de Moura (swimming) and athletes such as the Olympic champion of beach volleyball Emanuel who holds the position of president in the Athletes' Commission of BOC and the Olympic medalist judoka Flavio Canto.
The composition of this team of experts took into account two criteria: all of them have successful careers and are working on the preparation of Time Brasil for the Olympic Games 2016. The group is dynamic and other guests may be invited in the coming meetings. In all, there are scheduled seven more meetings until the beginning of the Games Rio 2016.
