Mayra Aguiar Is Back on Tatames After Two Surgeries and She Is Competing Staring From June
Mayra Aguiar, the leader of the world ranking in the middle-heavyweight category (78 kg) started training yesterday, April 28th, after 5 months away from tatamis because of two surgeries, one in the elbow and the other in the knee.
The judoka spent all this time on her recovery for a safe coming back. Wagner Zaccani, the fitness coach of the Brazilian team and Sogipa Club, said the fitness and physiotherapy were used at the same time. “We spent all these months to work on the strength balance and muscle mass gain, along with the physical therapy treatments,\" Wagner said.
Yesterday after her training the Gaucha athlete seemed to be recovered. \"I put on my judogui and did one of the things I love most in this life,\" she celebrated on social networks. \"I felt great and no pain,\" she added.
And the reward for her disciplined recovery may come in 40 days when Mayra participates in the Grand Prix of Havana, held from June 6th and 8th. But Wagner Zaccani highlights that the competition will serve as a test for the athlete. “She will not be 100 % because she has not been competing for a long time, but we can get an idea of the points that need to be worked on for the World Championship in August,\" he concluded.
