Chiaki Ishii, the first Brazilian judo medalist at the Olympics, Will be Celebrated in Sao Paulo

Given the fact that Chiaki Ishii is the forerunner of a successful story, all deference should be given to him. On September 24th, at 19:30, in Teatro SESC Bom Retiro ( Alameda Nothman , 185 - Campos Elísios - São Paulo ) , 15 Brazilian Olympic judo medalists ( the only absent judoka is Ketleyn Quadros who will be representing Brazil in Almaty Grand Prix ) yield a tribute to the first Brazilian judo athlete who reached the podium at the Games - the bronze at the Munich Olympics 72 . The ceremony will include demonstrations of Shodo , Kata , Judo and Taiko .

The great names who will attend the judo event are Douglas Vieira ( silver in Los Angeles 1984) ; Luis Onmura (bronze in Los Angeles 1984) ; Walter Carmona (bronze in Los Angeles 1984) ; Aurélio Miguel (gold in Seoul in 1988 and bronze in Atlanta 1996 ) , Rogério Sampaio ( gold in Barcelona 1992 ) ; Henrique Guimarães (bronze in Atlanta 1996) ; Antonio Tenorio ( 4 times Paralympic champion - 1996 , 2000, 2004 and 2008 - and bronze in 2012 ) ; Carlos Honorato ( silver in Sydney 2000) ; Tiago Camilo ( silver in Sydney 2000 and bronze in Beijing 2008) ; Leandro Guilheiro (bronze in Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008) ; Flavio Canto (bronze in Athens 2004) ; Mayra Aguiar (bronze in London 2012) ; Sarah Menezes (gold in London 2012) ; Felipe Kitadai (bronze in London 2012) , and Rafael Silva (bronze in London 2012) .

Throughout the week - until September the 27th - people who visit the SESC Bom Retiro will have the opportunity to experience a little bit of what judo is, performing some basic exercises such as bearings, falls and even a few strokes, all under the supervision of experienced teachers. On the even’s last day, Saturday, September 28th,  the \"Festival and Judo Tournament Chiaki Ishii \" will be held, which aims to encourage the judo practice by students , as well as pay one more tribute to Professor Ishii .

The vacancies are limited and therefore it is necessary to confirm the attendance. For the ceremony with the medalists, an mail should be sent to secretaria@bomretiro.sescsp.org.br . Concerning the festival , the deadline for entries is September 25th . The institutions which are interested in participating should contact Douglas Vieira ( douglasvieirajudo@gmail.com ) and Angelica Balsamão ( angellanza@ig.com.br ).
