Brazil Is Invited to the International Contest in the First Test Event Held at the Pan American Judo Center
The International Contest between Brazil and Italy will be the first test event held at the Pan American Judo Center in Lauro de Freitas, located in the metropolitan region of Salvador. The event will take place on November 30th, at 1:00 pm, and will be live broadcast by SporTV. It will be a mixed contest; there will be three women in the half-lightweight (52kg), middleweight (63kg) and heavyweight (+ 70kg) category. There will be also men participating in the lightweight (73kg) and middleweight (90kg). The Brazilian convocation was announced on Wednesday, November 19th. Eleudis Valentim (52kg), Marcelo Contini (73kg), Mariana Silva (63kg), Eduardo Bettoni (90kg), Rochele Nunes (+ 70kg) and Camilla Nogueira (+ 70kg) will represent the green and yellow colors. Mario Tsutsui and Mario Sabino will be the coaches in charge with the team, besides the physiotherapist Roberta Mattar and the assistant João Gabriel Pinheiro.
The Brazilian team will be composed of experienced athletes and younger ones such as Camila Gebara. The athlete from Dourados, a town from Mato Grosso do Sul, is the result of the Brazilian Judo decentralization. After winning major national titles, she competed in the heavyweight category in the World Junior Championship organized this year in Fort Lauderdale.
"I was very happy with this invitation, since I know my poor result at the World Junior Championship. The call came at the right time and it will make me prepare harder for the Junior and Rio 2016 selection Competitions from December, "said the 19 year-old judoka who did not manage to get in the team in 2012 for being the third placed in the 2016 first stage which had only two vacancies.
Camila will train with Rochele Nunes, Maria Suelen Altheman’s spare in the national team, who will compete as well in the Selective. Marcelo Contini has already a place in the team of Rio Games thanks to his world rankings. The Constest will be the last competition of the year for the athlete.
"It's always good to fight against Europeans. I hope to have a good result and get another win for Brazil’s Team. This would be one more achievement in order to have a good end of the competition year, with beautiful results that kept me away from the Selective! "said the lightweight judoka who won the silver medal at the Grand Slam of Tyumen, the gold one in Pan American Open of Buenos Aires and the silver award in Montevideo.
“I hope next year will bring me more results as good as the previous ones.” Contini concluded.
The Pan-American Judo Center - PJC was delivered to the Brazilian Judo Confederation in July 2014. The largest training center across Americas was the first building built with funds of Brasil Medalhas project, whose purpose is to prepare the country for the Olympics 2016.
This building, which is home of the Brazilian and Pan-American Judo and it thus integrates the National Training Network, has the most modern sports facilities : an air-conditioned gym for training and competitions, rooms for 72 athletes, 200 people-auditorium, a fitness center, a restaurant, a semi-Olympic swimming pool, a 18x36m²sports court, a support rooms and 1,900- seat bleachers.
