The Training Camp with the Japanese National Team Comes to an End

This Friday, October 3rd, the Training Camp in São Paulo came to an end. It gathered some members of the Brazilian team, invited athletes, the junior team that will compete this month in the World Junior Championship held in the United States and the Japanese team that, after its defeat by the green and yellow counterparts in the International Challenge, had been staying for the whole week in Brazil with Brazilian judokas, acquiring more experience, since after all they are the creators of this sport.

Bronze medalist at the World Junior Championships of last year (2013) and one of the athletes invited to participate in training, Gabriel Mendes thanked for the opportunity on his social networks. "The training’s got to an end. I can only thank to the Brazilian Judo Confederation (BJC) for the opportunity, "said the judoka.

The Brazilian Team’s  coach Luiz Shinohara, gave his opinion on this training period: "We have to encourage the exchange with the junior athletes, it’s very good they're here. Equally important was having Japanese athletes involved in the activities because they are quite technical. Therefore, Brazilians had the opportunity to understand what they have to offer. Some categories such as the heavy one, for example, had five top-level athletes training. This is very positive, "Shinohara said.

The training came to an end for some, but for the junior team composed of 19 athletes who will represent Brazil in World Junior Championship held in the United States, between October 20th-27th  will be staying in São Paulo. They are concentrated and will be training at Clube Pinheiros until October 18th, when they board for the most important competition of the year.

"The Training Camp was very important for the team because the training variety and volume was great, which helps them gain more experience by facing different situations of fight and develop more skills, which is a very important thing, especially now in this final countdown, "said Marcelo Theotonio, the technical coordinator of the junior teams. "We have entered a more specific stage, we will make our training sessions more focused on the tactical and technical side," he added.

The junior team is formed by Luiz Cláudio Lima Junior (55kg / SP), Vitor Carvalho (60kg / SP), Ricardo Santos Junior (66kg / MG), Gabriel Pinheiro (66kg / PE), Lincoln Neves (73kg / SP) Rafael Macedo (81kg / RS), Eduardo Santos (81kg / SP), Thiago Chiodi (90kg / SP), Gabriel Souza (100kg / SP) and João Cesarino (100kg + / RS). The women’s team will be composed of Larissa Farias (44kg / MS), Tawany Silva (48kg / SP), Jessica Pereira (52kg / RJ), Tamires Crude Silva (57kg / RJ), Flavia Gomes (57kg / SP), Danielle Karla Oliveira (63kg / RJ), Mariana Veiga (70kg / MS), Sibilla Faccholli (78kg + / SP) and Camila Gebara (+ 78kg / MS).

All athletes are joined by the multidisciplinary technical committee of the junior and cadets categories. It is composed of the technical coordinator Marcelo Silva, the technical advisor Edmilson Guimarães, the physiotherapists Amadei Ricardo and Gustavo Braga, the fitness coach Armando Gonzalez, the  psychologist Mariana Correa and the nutritionist Patricia Vieira.
