The Senior Team Participates in a Training Camp in São Paulo and Minas Gerais
After the training, 14 athletes will represent Brazil in GPs Almaty and Tashkent
Two weeks after the historic performance in the World Judo Championship Rio 2013 where seven medals were won, Brazil’s senior team have two important challenges ahead. Next Monday , September 16th, the women’s team gather in São Paulo and the middleweight, half-heavyweight and heavyweight category- men arrive in Belo Horizonte for specific training camps.
The convoked male athletes are the following ones: Eduardo Santos (90kg , Sogipa / RS), Eduardo Bettoni (90kg , Minas/MG) , Eduardo Gonçalves (90kg , São Caetano/SP) , Renan Nunes (100kg , Sogipa / RS ) , Luciano Correa ( 100kg , Minas / MG ) , Rafael Buzacarini ( 100kg, São Caetano / SP) , Hugo Pessanha ( 100kg , Minas / MG ) , Bruno Altoé ( 100kg , Minas / MG ) , David Moura ( +100 kg , Kodokan Cuiabá / MT ), Gabriel Santos ( +100 kg , Minas / MG ) , Guilherme Melo ( +100 kg , Minas / MG ) and João Gabriel Schlittler (+100 kg). The activities take place at Minas Tennis Club and they will be led by the coaches Luiz Shinohara and Mário Sabino.
\"This training will be great to see the mistakes we made during the World Judo Championships. We will work even harder to fix what went wrong and have thus a good performance in the second semester, \"said Luciano Corrêa.
The women\'s team who train at the gym from Ibirapuera Park , in the old Future Project, is formed by Luana Pinheiro ( 52kg , Minas / MG ), Milena Mendes ( 52kg , Palmeiras / Mogi / SP) , Eleudis Valentine ( 52kg , Pinheiros / SP ) , Raquel Silva ( 57kg , Reação Institute / RJ ) , Tamires Crudes ( 57kg , Reação Institute / RJ ) , Tamara Santos ( 57kg , Palmeiras / Mogi / SP ) , Mariana Barros ( 63kg , Palmeiras / Mogi / SP ) , Mariana Silva ( 63kg , Minas / MG ) , Ana Carla Grincevicus ( 63kg , Minas / MG ) , Nadia Merli ( 70kg , Pinheiros / SP ) , Barbara Timo ( 70kg , Flamengo / RJ ) , Isadora Pereira ( 78kg , Minas / MG ) and Rafaela Nitz ( +78 kg Flamengo / RJ ). The training is run by the coach Mario Tsutsui , Yuko Fujii and Danielle Zangrando .
\"Each training camp is very positive because it implies a considerable exchange of knowledge and experience. The athletes that will be in São Paulo have a very good technical level and the coaches are great. Therefore, I intend to make the most of each training day. This will be a key step in the preparation for the upcoming competitions, \"said Barbara Timo.
She is one of the athletes who will participate in the training week and the following week, will travel to represent Brazil in the Grand Prix of Almaty ( KAZ ) and Tashkent ( UZB ). The first competition takes place on the weekend – September 28th and 29th. The tournament from the capital of Uzbekistan will be held from October 5th to October 6th. \"After the World Judo Championship I competed in Open from Santiago where I won the gold. I think I\'m well prepared for the Grand Prix, which will be very strong, \"said Rafael Buzacarini .
\"The Eastern European countries are an emerging force in the judo world. They have made some moves that other schools do not use much. So, I believe that the competitions and training camps after the Grand Prix will be very important to learn a little more about these schools. Uzbekistan was the fifth in the team male competition and Kazakhstan the seventh in the women’s competition in in the last World Championship, showing that they are technically evolving, \"said Ney Wilson, the BJC’s performance director.
