The Figures Show the Importance of the International Training Camp of Brazil

There were almost two hundred judokas officially representing thirteen countries - Brazil, France, Japan, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Israel, USA, Slovenia, Austria, Ireland, Portugal and Lebanon - for 10 days in the International Training Camp, the largest ever run. But the number of athletes that packed the 768 m2- training area were not just members of official delegations. Some clubs like Reação Institute (RJ), the Pinheiros (SP), Minas (MG), Sogipa (RS), Jequiá (RJ) and SESI (SP) attended the TC as well and gave more volume to the activities. On some days, the dojo received 330 judokas and nearly 50 coaches.

The training space consisted of 384 tatamis  (192 blue and 192 yellow ones ) which traveled  472km from Vitória, capital of Espírito Santo, where it is found the warehouse of the  Brazilian Judo Confederation, to Saquarema, Região dos Lagos of Rio de Janeiro . The space is 768 m² (24m x 32m) and the dojo was set by Thiago Monteiro, the "Rasta", and Maykol Caetano.

The first week of training was an intense one, besides the great rivalries on the mat such as Erika Miranda and Mareen Kraeh (ALE), Rafaela Silva and Automne Pavia (FRA) - not to mention Telma Monteiro (POR), Marti Malloy (USA) and Miryam Roper (ALE) - Mayra Aguiar and Kayla Harrison (USA) - Ana out Valensek (ESL), Luise Malzhan (ALE), Assunta Galeone (ITA) and Audrey Tcheumeo (FRA) - Victor Penalber and Loic Pietri (FRA), Leandro Guilheiro and Travis Stevens (USA), Luciano Correa and Henk Grol (NED) and Rafael Silva and Teddy Riner (FRA). More than that, the sun showed up every day of the week. The thermal sensation inside the gym went up to 40 ° C.

BJC provided plenty of water. In the early days there were spent on average 62 boxes with 48 cups each. That is, a total of 2976 containers or 595.2 liters of water per day. The glasses were immersed in ice and kept in seven "coolers". There were 20 bags with 10 kg of ice each day.

The food was also another concern. To allow everyone involved - athletes, coaching staff and support staff - perform their activities there were served four daily meals. Each of these should feed at least 30 people. Remember that an event of this size needs a lot of people involved to happen and, among administrators, staff assembly, maintenance, among others, were almost 40 people dedicated to keep everything in order. Another 30 were part of the technical committee which included doctors (3), trainers (2), physical therapists (5), massage therapists (3), nutritionist (1), psychologists (2) and strategists (2).

"Everything is for sure high quality, "said the Performance Director, Ney Wilson, in an interview to TV Brazil. A super training in every way.
