The Brazilian Team Is Training in Japan

After taking part in the Grand Slam of Tokyo, the 11 athletes will be staying in Japan for training until December 11th.

The eleven athletes who participated in the Grand Slam of Tokyo continue their training in Ajinomoto Center, the home of the Japanese judo. Sarah Menezes (48kg), Erika Miranda (52kg), Rafaela Silva (57kg), Felipe Kitadai (60kg), Eric Takabatake (60kg), Charles Chibana (66kg), Alex Pombo (73kg), Victor Penalber (81kg), Luciano Correa (100kg), Rafael Silva (+ 100kg) and David Moura (+ 100kg) will be participating in a training camp until December 11th, the day they come back to Brazil.

They are joined by Ney Wilson, Performance Director; by Amadeu Moura, Performance Manager; the coaches Luiz Shinohara and Rosicleia Campos; the physiotherapist Gláucio Paredes; the massage therapist Hans Peter Strubreiter, the strategist Leonardo Mataruna and the nutritionist Gisele Lemos.

The competition was attended by 416 judokas  - 246 men and 170 women -  from 65 countries.  Brazil won the bronze with Rafaela Silva and four fifth places with Sarah Menezes, Erika Miranda, Victor Penalber and Luciano Correa.

"We came to this competition without high expectations but I think we did well since we reached five rounds for medals. I think we had a good performance and we ended well our competing year,” Ney Wilson said, adding "The 2015 season begins already in January and most of these athletes will be traveling in the first week of the next year."

Among the athletes who were at the Grand Slam of Tokyo and who are invited to take part in the Training Camp in Mittersill, Austria, from January 6th to 17th are the following: Sarah Menezes, Rafaela Silva, Felipe Kitadai, Eric Takabatake, Charles Chibana, Alex Pombo, Victor Penalber, Rafael Silva and David Moura.
