The Brazilian Team Goes to Japan for a Training Camp

The Brazilian team will be participating until May 20th in a training camp in Japan. The men\'s team has landed this Friday in Tokyo. The convoked athletes are the following: Felipe Kitadai (60kg ) , Diego Santos ( 60kg ) , Charles Chibana ( 66kg ) , Luiz Revite ( 66kg ) , Marcelo Contini (73kg ) , Victor Penalber ( 81kg ) , Tiago Camilo ( 90kg ) , Rafael Buzacarini ( 100kg ) , Rafael Silva ( +100 kg ) and David Moura ( +100 kg ). And the athletes’ first thought was having a rest from the long trip.

\"We have just arrived in Japan. Now we have to eat and sleep because tomorrow a training is waiting for us\", published David Moura on his personal page.

\"We\'re in Tokyo. Now we have to rest because tomorrow the workout begins\", Diego Santos posted on his social network page.

The women\'s team boards next Monday, May 5th, shortly after the Troféu Brazil competition. The women who were invited to the training camp are: Sarah Menezes ( 48kg ) , Gabriela Chibana ( 48kg ), Erika Miranda ( 52kg ), Rafaela Silva ( 57kg ), Ketleyn Quadros ( 57kg ), Mariana Barros ( 63kg ), Mariana Silva ( 63kg ), Maria Portela ( 70kg ), Nadia Merli ( 70kg ), Samantha Soares ( 78kg ), Maria Suelen Altheman ( +78 kg ) and Rochele Nunes ( +78 kg ).

\"I hope to learn a lot. Not everyone has the chance to train in the country where judo was born. So, I have to make good use of this opportunity. My main Japanese rivals will be there and it is not easy to find in Brazil opponents of my weight category training, “said Maria Suelen Altheman.

This period of training is also very important for the Grand Prix of Havana, the first competition that is worth ranking points for the Olympics. Victor Penalber, who will participate in his third contest this year after recovering from a surgery on his right elbow, finds the activities relevant:

“I am sure this training period will help further my coming back to the mats. I\'m training and competing a lot, but after my absence, I think it is good to be back to normal, together with the big judo titans, “Victor Penalber said.

The technical committee will be composed of Ney Wilson, Head of Delegation; coaches Luiz Shinohara, Rosicleia Campos, Fulvio Miyata and Mario Tsutsui; the fitness trainer Zaccani Wagner; the physiotherapist Priscila Marques; the nutritionist Gisele Lemos and the practitioner Hans Peter Strubreiter.
