The Brazilian National Judo Team Is Training for Two Periods in Santiago
The athletes who arrived this Saturday at the Chilean capital to compete in the South American Games are training hard
All judoka knows that evolution is possible only if training. That\'s why the 14 athletes who will represent Brazil in the tenth edition of the South American Games are not taking a rest. They arrived last Saturday afternoon and they have already taken part in a workout . This Sunday morning, March 9th, there was a technical training at the Olympic Training Center in the basement where the disputes for medals will happen.
The program will be repeated on Monday. On Tuesday the judo fights of the largest multi-sport event from the continent begin. The first Brazilians to participate in the competition will be the extra-light athletes Breno Alves (60kg) and Gabriela Chibana (48kg) and the half lightweight Jessica Pereira (52kg). On Thursday, it is time for Gustavo Assis ( 81kg ) , Eduardo Santos ( 90kg ) , Barbara Timo ( 70kg ) and Renata Januário ( 78kg ) to step on the mat. And on Friday , Rafael Buzacarini ( 100kg ) , David Moura ( +100 kg ) and Claudirene Cezar ( +78 kg ) will face their opponents.
In the Game’ last edition held in Medellin (COL), Brazil won 13 medals in the individual (in 2010, the extra-light and Open categories were also disputed). Gold won by Leonardo Leite (100kg), Rafael Silva (+100 kg and Open ) , Andressa Fernandes ( 52kg ) and Ketleyn Quadros ( 57kg ) . Silver from Luiz Revite ( 66kg ) , Daniela Polzin ( 48kg ) and Steffani Lupetti ( Open ) . Bronze with Bruno Mendonça ( 73kg ) , Eduardo Santos ( 90kg ) , Catierê Toledo ( 44kg ) , Laisa Santana ( 63kg ) and Priscila Marques ( +78 kg ) . Besides the silver by teams in the male and female and in Kata, there was a gold in Katame in Kata.
