The Brazilian Judo Team Starts Training More Often in Rio and São Paulo

The Brazilian teams will train twice a week. Apart from the athletes of the Brazilian judo team, the workouts will be available for the 63kg, 78kg, 73kg and 90kg categories

The Brazilian Judo Team Starts Training More Often in Rio and São Paulo

The Brazilian team starts training twice a week in the two major Brazilian cities. All the athletes of the National Judo Team living in the states of Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo are called to these activities in CT Time Brazil from the Aquatic Park Maria Lenk and the old Future Project in Ibirapuera Park, respectively.

The training in Sao Paulo, a partnership between BJC and the Judo Federation from São Paulo, will take place on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. and on Fridays at 5 p.m. and will be led by the coaches Mário Tsutsui  and Luiz Shinohara. The athletes of the selection from São Paulo will participate in these activities as well. On the other hand, in Rio de Janeiro, these activities are organized in partnership with the Judo Federation of Rio de Janeiro; they are on the charge of the coach Yuko Fujii  and they will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3 p.m.

Besides the members of the Brazilian team, the training can be attended by any female athletes (half lightweight (63kg) and half heavyweight (78kg)) and male judokas (lightweight (73kg) and middleweight (90kg)) who have achieved medals at state championships.

“We have got some interesting results with this type of training for specific categories as it happened last year in São Paulo. In Rio, we have already developed this activity with Yuko and we could see as well a technical improvement of the athletes’ performance. Now we want to make practice available for these four categories in which we need to work on specific aspects for qualitative improvement, \"said Ney Wilson, the  BJC’s Performance Director.

Among the athletes who will participate in training sessions in São Paulo are Gabriela Chibana ( 48kg , Pinheiros ) , Eleudis Valentim ( 52kg , Pinheiros ) , Flavia Gomes ( 57kg , Pinheiros ) , Mariana Barros ( 63kg , Palm / Mogi ) , Nadia Merli ( 70kg , Pinheiros ) , Samantha Soares ( 78kg , São Caetano ) , Maria Suelen Altheman ( +78 kg , AJ Rogério Sampaio ) , Claudirene Cezar ( +78 kg , Sao Jose ) , Eric Tabatake ( 60kg , Pinheiros ) , Leandro Cunha ( 66kg , Sao Jose dos Campos ) , Charles Chibana ( 66kg , Pinheiros ) , Luiz Revite ( 66kg , AJ Rogério Sampaio ) , Bruno Mendonça ( 73kg , SESI ) , Marcelo Contini ( 73kg , Pinheiros ) , Rafael Buzacarini ( 100kg , São Caetano ) , Rafael Silva ( +100 kg , Pinheiros ) and Daniel Hernandes ( +100 kg , Pinheiros ) The called athletes in Rio are Raquel Silva ( 52kg , Reação Institute) , Rafaela Silva ( 57kg , Reação Institute ) , Katherine Campos ( 63kg , Flamengo) , Barbara Timo ( 70kg, Flamengo) , Victor Penalber ( 81kg, Reação Institute) and Mauro Moura ( 81kg , Flamengo).
