With the results won on Sunday, Brazil ends its participation in the San Salvador Open with seven podiums.

Sunday 28th, the last day of the Pan-American Open held in San Salvador, capital of El Salvador, two of the three Brazilians who went to the mat reached the podium. The highlight was the half-heavyweight (78kg) Samanta Soares, who won the gold medal. Eduardo Bettoni (90kg) also reached the final, but he took the silver. With the other five medals won on Saturday, the country finished on the second placed in the medals chart, with three gold, two silver and two bronze, after Canada that won four gold, three silver and four bronze awards.

On the road towards the gold, Samanta defeated the Mexican Liliana Cardenas by ippon and reached the semi-final against the Canadian Catherine Roberge.  Making her opponent suffer four punishments, Brazil reached the final against Sarah Myriam Mazouz from Gabon and won the gold after performing a waza-ari.

Brazil would also reach another final with Eduardo Bettoni (90kg). The Brazilian started with a victory by ippon  against Jahi Cunningham (GUA). Next, he beated Rafael Romo (CHI) and Andrew Burns (GBT), both by waza-ari before reaching the gold decision against the US Colton Brown. In a tough fight, Bettoni suffered two penalties and in the last minute of fight the opponent managed to score the maximum points, leaving the Brazilian with the silver.

The third Brazilian in action on Sunday, Lucas Brito (100kg) was overcome in the first fight by the Venezuelan Anthoni Pena by ippon.
