Samanta Soares Gets on the Fifth Position at the GP from Abu Dhabi

Samanta Soares ( 78kg , São Caetano / SP ) was defeated by Anastasiya Dmitrieva ( RUS ) in the fight for bronze at the Grand Prix from Abu Dhabi and so she got on the fifth place. It was the first competition where the world junior vice-champion competed together with the senior national team. In the first round, she applied a yuko to the Italian Assunta Galeone. Then, Samanta was defeated by the wazari applied by the French Audrey Tcheume; in the repechage, she herself applied an ippon to the Algerian Kaouthar Quallal. In the fight for bronze, however, the Brazilian could not resist the Russian Anastasyia Dmitrieva, who won over her by yuko.

“Well, I’d like to thank all the people for their support. The bronze medal did not come  this time, but that\'s okay, I’ll keep training and improve. Thanks to everyone who helped me and fight with me even if they were not near me, \" Samanta said.

The other Brazilian athletes of the day did not reach the fight for medals: Barbara Timo ( 70kg , Flamengo / RJ ) , Hugo Pessanha ( 100kg , Minas / MG ) and Luciano Correa ( 100kg , Minas / MG ) lost in their first round to the German Karl Richard - Frey , the Swiss Flavio Orlik and, respectively, the Italian Giulia Cantoni. Mauro Moura ( 81kg , Flamengo / RJ ) won the first fight against the Iranian Saeed Moradi , but could not resist to the German Sven Maresch, in the second fight.
