The half-heavyweight won three fights but when he reached the fight for bronze, he ended up being defeated by his Dutch counterpart Henk Grol. In the heavyweight category, the Japanese were the defeaters of the Brazilians. Rafael Silva was overcome by Keita Iwao and David Moura lost to Daiki Kamikawa. Thus, Brazil ends the competition with Rafaela Silva’s bronze medal. The 11 athletes who participated in the tournament will be training in Japan until December 11th.
Luciano Correa won the fight against the Italian Domenico De Guida by wazari. After that, he overcame the Chinese Hu Kai due to having a punishment less. But in the quarterfinals he was eventually defeated by the French Cyrille Maret. In the repechage, he defeated Kaihan Takagi and so he managed to get qualified for the bronze contention against the Dutch Henk Grol. The latter eventually won the fight.
"I really wanted to come back with a medal, but unfortunately it didn’t happen. Now I have to train more and correct what’s wrong," Luciano said.
