The competition in Russia will still have five Brazilians fighting on Sunday, the last day of this contest.

Ketleyn Quadros Is Seventh Placed in the Grand Slam of Tyumen

The Olympic awarded Ketleyn Quadros was the best Brazilian on the first day of the Grand Slam of Tyumen. After defeating the Russian Pari Surakatova by ippon and the Dutch Anicka Van Endem by wazari, she could not win the fight against the Mongolian Tserennadmid Tsend-Ayush in which she lost by difference of punishments in the quarter-finals. In the repechage, she performed a wazari against the Swedish Anna Bernholm but in the last 12 seconds she was projected by ippon and finished in seventh place.

The other Brazilians who fought on Saturday did not get that far. The young Jessica Pereira (52kg) started defeating the Russian Aigul Tashtimirova but in the second fight of the second round, she lost against the Israeli Gili Cohen. Regarding the men’s performance, Phelipe Pelim won the fight against the Russian Savva Karakizidi but in the second round she did not resist the Kazakh Aibek Imashev. Marcelo Contini could not show his best judo and was defeated in the first round by the Russian Uali Kurzhev.

On Sunday it’s the turn of Leandro Guilheiro (81kg), Eduardo Bettoni (90kg), Rafael Buzacarini (100kg), Samantha Soares (78kg) and Rochelle Nunes (+ 78kg).
