According to the research conducted by the Judoinside site, one of the most important sports site from the world, Brazilian judokas won 121 medals in the World Circuit compared to the 123 awards conquered by their Japanese counterparts.

Brazil is the second most awarded country in large judo events. According to the counting done by the sports statistics site Judoinside.com, there were 121 medals awarded during the circuit organized by the International Judo Federation, only two fewer awards than Japan’s team. With three fewer medals than Brazil Russia is placed third, followed by Germany ( 96 ) and France ( 93 ). If we consider the number of gold medals, Brazil has 31 of them and is fourth placed, behind Japan with 45 and France and Russia with 32 awards.

\"I believe that the investments done ​​by the Brazilian Judo Confederation together with their public and private partners, the work run by the multidisciplinary technical committee and the talent of our athletes led to this excellent performance. Moreover, taking into consideration the site’s data, the World Judo Championship Rio 2013, Brazil was the third placed with six medals, behind Japan and France that came to podium seven times. In Grand Slam, Brazil was the second most awarded and gold awarded country. There were 21 medals, five gold, eight silver and eight bronze. Japan leads, especially on grounds of the Grand Slam from Tokyo, where it scored 45 medals, 15 of them being gold. At the World Masters, the year’s second most important competition after the World Championship, there were six Brazilian medals against seven Japanese ones. During the Grand Prix stages, Brazil was the fifth after scoring 36 medals, behind Russia (66), South Korea (48) Mongolia (48) and Germany (42) and ahead of France (30) and Japan (28).

The Brazilian who contributed most to the general chart was Charles Chibana who won five medals in international competitions during this year: three gold and two silver. Concerning the women’s outcomes, Maria Suelen Altheman was the outstanding athlete, in the tenth position, with six awards:  three gold, two silver and one bronze.

\"It was a very productive year because I had to work hard to get a higher position in the ranking and participate in the World Judo Championships. Both BJC and Pinheiros gave me all their support in order to achieve my goals from this year. Now I have to finish my training here in Japan, rest and plan my new goals from 2014, “Charles Chibana said.
