IJF updates the ranking after the Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi
The world ranking of the International Judo Federation is fundamental to define which judokas will be in the next phase of the National Qualifying Project London 2012, which will decide who is going to be part of the team that will dispute the events next season. Of the 48 Brazilians currently on the list released after the Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi, 13 will be virtually qualified for the next Olympic Game in London. The qualifying predicts that the athlete that hás between the 22 top on the ranking in their category in the men’s and 14 in the female are out of the dispute on the 5th of December.

Sixth place amongst the -73kg judokas, the Olympian Leandro Guilheiro is the exeption to this rule and will have to fight at the qualifying, since he opted to change category, going up to the -81kg next season.

The best placed Brazilian on IJF’s world ranking is Luciano Corrêa (-100kg) – PHOTO – champion of the world in 2007. Luciano has 580 points and won the gold medal at the World Cup in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, and the silver medal at the Grand Slam in Rio de Janeiro and Moscow.
