Diego Santos Got the Fifth Position at the Grand Prix of Abu Dhabi
Marcos Seixas, the other Brazilian of the day, did not reach the final block
Diego Santos (60kg, SOGIPA / RS ) fought for bronze at the Grand Prix of Abu Dhabi against the Olympic champion Arsen Galstyan, but could not resist to his Russian opponent and, despite dominating the beginning of the fight, forcing two penalties for the opponent, he was projected by his rival’s wazari. He finished in the fifth place. Before that, the athlete from Jequié, Bahia state, had defeated Leri Tchelidze (GEO) and Orkhan Safarov (AZE) by ippon and lost the semifinal to Beslan Mundranov (RUS).
The other Brazilian athele of the day was Marcos Seixas (73kg, Minas/MG). He defeated Youcef Nouari (ALG) by ippon in the first round, but he lost afterwards to Ungvari Miklos ( HUN ) and was out of the contention for medals.
On Saturday, Brazil will be represented by Mauro Moura (81kg , Flamengo / RJ) , Luciano Correa (100kg , Minas / MG) , Hugo Pessanha (100kg , Minas / MG) , Barbara Timo (70kg , Flamengo / RJ) and Samanta Soares (78kg , Sao Caetano /SP) .
