Brazilian Teams Are Running Training Camps in Sao Paulo and Belo Horizonte The women’s team goal is introducing the new talents and the men’s is correcting the mistakes committed during the World Judo Championship
After a successful campaign in the World Judo Championships ended on September 1st with seven medals - six in the individual and one for teams, the male and female teams have met for the first time since the year’s most important championship. The women\'s team and the middleweight, half heavy and heavyweight men have been training since last Monday in Sao Paulo and Belo Horizonte, respectively. The activities are being done in partnership with the Brazilian Olympic Committee. The objectives of the activities are different. The men who won only one medal have to train more and more in their category.
“We have now Mario Sabino as one of our coaches. He can bring something more to the athletes who have this body type: taller and heavier, the same as him. We had been investing in special activities separated by weight category and after the result of the World Championship, we believe that we should invest more in this type of training , with our important partners’ support, including the Brazilian Olympic Committee , \"said Ney Wilson, BJC’s High Performance Director.
The women\'s team who had a superb performance in the World event finished first in the overall table of medals. The training camp in Sao Paulo, which does not have the athletes that competed in the World event- except Eleudis Valentim and Mariana Silva, aims to acclimatize young athletes with potential with the team’s environment.
“We brought the sparring athletes (athletes support)in the World Championships to this training which includes athletes with some team experience like Eleudis, Raquel Silva, Barbara Timo , Nadia Merli and Mariana Silva. During this week, they can make use of all the coaching commission’s functional areas such as psychology, nutrition, physical therapy and fitness, as well as participate in the technical trainings, “said Ney Wilson.

Having Mario Sabino among us as one of the coaches is interesting because he can bring something different; he competed among the heavyweight category athletes. In our category, we sometimes need more strength than technique, “said Eduardo Santos, who represented Brazil in the World Judo Championship in the middleweight category.

It is very valuable, “said Milena Mendes, one of the sparring athletes in the training for the World Judo Championship and is working again with the Brazilian Team.
