Brazilian Team summoned for the first competetions in Europe
“It has been a good time spent here. We are having productive training sessions and many other activities. We are very satisfied with this beginning of the new year”, said the technical coordinator of the Brazilian Team, Ney Wilson.
On the first meeting, it was explained to the selected athletes how the training and competition calendar would be this year as well as what would be the criteria for participation in them. The first team to leave the country to take part in the World Circuit was also announced and will be made of: Sarah Menezes and Daniela Polzin (48kg), Andressa Fernandes and Erika Miranda (52kg), Ketleyn Quadros (57kg), Mariana Silva (63kg), Mayra Aguiar (78kg) and Maria Suellen Altman (+78kg) for the women’s categories; Breno Alves and Ricardo Ayres (60kg), Alex Pombo (66kg), Marcelo Contini (73kg), Leandro Guilheiro and Nacif Elias (81kg), Tiago Camilo (90kg), Luciano Correa (100kg) and Walter Santos (+100kg) for the men’s. This delegation will participate of the Grand Slam in Paris, World Cups in Austria (men) and Budapest (women) and of the Grand Prix in Düsseldorf.
“We are taking in consideration several aspects of each athlete to make up this list: the minimum requirement to participate in a Grand Slam is having been to a Senior Pan American or a World Cup at least, the existence or absence of injury and it’s final technical performance during the last season”, explained Ney Wilson.
